Did you know veterans are more likely than non-veterans to volunteer to support their communities? Just because a service member has been discharged doesn’t mean their commitment to service diminishes. In fact, many veterans leave military service with a renewed spirit of service, which inspires them to continue serving others when they return home.

Cornerstone Consulting Organization (CCO) is a certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that was founded and is still led by veterans. Whether working with businesses in need of support or giving back to those in need in the communities where team members live and work, almost everything the CCO team does is in service of others. This spirit of service is what inspired CCO to offer additional support to clients and others in need during the early days of the pandemic.

When the COVID-19 crisis first reached our nation, the U.S. did not have a sufficient supply of personal protection equipment (PPE) to meet the surge in demand. Knowing that finding PPE would likely become a challenge, CCO took matters into its own hands to help businesses that greatly needed supplies to support the health and safety of their staff and others.

CCO sourced for and supplied PPE, thermometers, disinfectants, and hand sanitizers to assist businesses in safely reopening and maintaining operations in a COVID-compliant manner. This sort of global pandemic was unprecedented in recent times, and a community effort was needed to meet the immediate needs of businesses as their team members worked to safely deliver essential products and services to the public.

Now—more than one year after lockdowns, mask wearing and social distancing—PPE shortages continue to be a nationwide issue as the supply chain is still fragile. Requests for PPE persist, particularly as COVID-19 cases are on the rise across the country due to the highly contagious Delta variant. As cases begin to tick up once again, CCO has doubled down on its commitment to service by supporting more organizations and helping more people stay safe and healthy.

Members of the CCO team recently delivered donations of PPE and other critical supplies to several organizations in their local communities to equip them with the tools needed to keep their people safe and healthy as our nation continues to reopen and recover from the pandemic. Organizations receiving donations included the following schools, nonprofits, and businesses:

These are just a few of the organizations that benefit greatly from the dedicated, ongoing service of veterans like the CCO founders and team members. These heroes will continue to support their local communities however they can, especially during extraordinary times like these, to ensure a bright future for our country and fellow Americans.
